marriageFOREVER ONE CLASS

Getting married is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make.

Getting Married
Forever One is a biblically based program which will challenge you to view marriage as God does and understand what a marriage covenant is all about. It is our premarital counseling class, required for all couples desiring to be married by a Grace Covenant Church pastor. Engaged couples planning to register for the class are encouraged to sign up at least 4-6 months prior to their wedding date to allow enough time to complete the process.

Seriously Dating and Thinking of Marriage?

Getting married is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. Many couples make the mistake of spending so much time preparing for their wedding that they forget to prepare for their marriage.

If you are seriously thinking about marriage, this course is a great opportunity to evaluate your relationship and see what it takes to have a happy, fulfilling and lifelong marriage.

Living Together?

GCC takes a biblical view on premarital sex and cohabitation.  In short, we believe that sex outside of marriage and living together are not part of God’s best for Christians.  Rather, we view pre-marital sex as a form of disobedience to God’s word and direction for pre-married couples.  Those who are living together and consider GCC to be their home church should know that a GCC pastor will talk with you about your living situation and your decision to cohabit.  You will be challenged by the Pastor, as well as in the Forever One class, to abstain from sex before your wedding, according to God’s word.

Pre-registration is required. Prior to the first class session, each couple will take an online couple assessment called “Prepare and Enrich.” Three 8-week sessions are offered each year.

In addition to the class, each couple will have 4-6 sessions with an assigned Mentor Couple that will facilitate the “Prepare and Enrich” assessment and help with learning more about the relationship. Mentor Couples are not counselors, but have marriage experience and are willing to volunteer time and life experiences in order to help strengthen marriages. Each session is confidential. However, if necessary, a Mentor Couple may share critical information with the Pastor or Lead Mentor Couple and refer the couple to counseling if needed. Relationships that involve divorce and remarriage present additional challenges. Research has shown that such relationships are at a greater risk than first-time marriages. To ensure the health of a new marriage, divorced individuals will be strongly encouraged to gain emotional and spiritual healing through “Divorce Care” and/or professional counseling prior to entering into a new marriage relationship.
